Apple Cider Whiskey Sour

By Anthony on February 8, 2023

Sometimes, just sometimes, you decide to blow a Saturday afternoon day drinking on your couch. That's what happened to me with this drink. It was a cool fall day in October and I was CRAVING something with apple cider.

Then it hit me. A whiskey sour. It's the perfect playground for adding in cider. Boozy, acidic, and with a massive body. Perfect. Let's try it out, I said to myself. And then I started playing around with it. This drink is dangerously easy to crush more than you intend to because the cider masks the booze incredibly well. It's happened a couple times since crafting this recipe.

Recipe

  • 2oz Buffalo Trace
  • 2oz Apple Cider
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • Cinnamon Simple Syrup
  • 1 Egg White

Add all the ingredients to a shaker without ice. Shake for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add ice. Shake vigorously. Double strain into a rocks glass with a big ice cube. Garnish with cinnamon stick and powdered cinnamon.

Cinnamon Simple Syrup: Use 2:1 Sugar / Water. Add 3 cinnamon sticks. Boil for 3-5 minutes. Remove and steep for up to 3 hours. I'd taste test every hour to get the cinnamon to your liking. I prefer it a bit more pronounced so I push the 3 hour steep.
